Job summary

Omya is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform testing and data logging of samples using established laboratory methods. You will identify discrepancies, support the development of new methods, and document results while upholding SHE standards.

Ideal candidates hold a science or engineering degree with 7+ years of laboratory experience (or 4 years with a Bachelor’s degree), possess strong attention to detail, and are proficient with Microsoft Office 365.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or Bachelor’s degree in science/engineering/chemistry is preferred.
  • 7+ years laboratory or relevant experience with a high school diploma; or up to 4 years with a Bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

  • Laboratory work with chemicals/minerals and formulations using established methods.
  • Log samples, enter data, and report results.
  • Identify disconnects between test methods and expected results; modify as needed.
  • Coordinate ISO or safety activities for the team or RND department.
  • Maintain good experimental documentation and data logging for IP, patents, and reports.

Job description

BASIC FUNTION:Laboratory work with chemicals and/or minerals and/or mineral formulations and/or products made therefrom using established and experimental laboratory methods. Responsible for logging in samples, entering data, and reporting data.RESPONSIBILITIES:Identifies disconnects between laboratory test methods and expected results in the daily operation of specific projects, and modifies/elevates as determined by use of scientific or engineering methodsCan work under guidance to test and implement new methods and processesShares perspective on team challenges in a positive mannerActively participates in team and work group activitiesSuggests process improvements and modifications to existing procedures, equipment, instruments or SHE to improve performance or capabilitiesCompletes tasks in a timely mannerWithin the team, focus on task-oriented activitiesRecognizes value of intellectual property and assets (eg. Confidentiality agreements, good experimental documentation, etc.)Generates and logs data in support of IDF’s, patents, reports, and publicationsConsistently demonstrates the highest SHE standards and lives by the Omya valuesIntervenes when inappropriate behavior is exhibitedExposed to and pursuing Omya leadership attributesMay have role in coordinating ISO or safety activities for team or RND departmentQUALIFICATIONS:High School diploma or Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Science, Engineering or Chemistry. Minimum 7 years of laboratory or relevant experience with High School diploma; Or up to 4 years of laboratory or relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree. Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity to operate various tests on basic and complex lab equipment is essential.Excellent computer and software skills in word processing and excel spreadsheet applications. Good command of both oral and written English are required. Proficiency in office and technical software (eg. Microsoft Office 365).Must possess current US employment authorization; sponsorship not available for this position.
