Job summary

Omya Cincinnati is seeking an Associate Scientist to independently work on R&D tasks, lead lab technicians, and contribute to publications and patents. You will stay current with scientific methods and support small project teams within an ISO/SHE-conscious environment.

The role emphasizes practical lab work, problem solving, and collaboration across teams, with opportunities to grow within a global minerals and chemistry company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, material science, polymer science or similar.
• 1–8 years’ technical experience and willingness to do practical laboratory work.
• Good command of both oral and written English; occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• With guidance mainly received from stakeholders and superiors, clearly define problems and routinely conduct literature reviews prior to tackling new projects or technologies.
• Suggests new ideas to solve problems and make innovative contributions.
• Effectively applies scientific method or engineering design process and statistics in the solution to problems in their technical development.
• Building competency on incorporation of information from outside of team, department and company to develop relevant solutions.
• Laboratory day to day leadership of technicians.
• Can lead a small technical sub-team of a larger well-defined project.
• Proactively seeks support and mentoring.
• Communicates clearly and effectively to varied internal technical audiences.
• Understands the alignment of work package goals with the project and uses it to define tasks.
• Project oriented with potential for significant advancements.
• Demonstrates value-creating solutions when presented with problems of defined scope and impact.
• Acts as information resource on Team focus topics for stakeholders and other members of technical community.
• Uses Omya IP processes for protecting value.

They also keep themselves up to date with the latest scientific methods and competencies and can contribute under guidance to scientific publications, patents, and other forms of communication. Effectively applies the scientific method or engineering design process and statistics in the solution to problems and their technical development. Basic project management skills.###### Good command of both oral and written English is required. Occasional travel may be required.### Must possess current US employment authorization; sponsorship not available for this position.
