Responsibilities

  • Independently performs, interprets and troubleshoots lab procedures for unit and donor testing and related assays.
  • Performs routine analytical testing using manual and automated methods and compares results to controls.
  • Completes maintenance and QC per SOPs; adheres to cGMP and regulatory standards.
  • Shares information with internal contacts to reach solutions.
  • Operates and calibrates instruments; performs preventative maintenance and reports unresolved issues.

Job description

Schedule: Second Shift, 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician I to support the testing and quality control of materials used in the processing, manufacturing, and distribution of blood and plasma products.

This position performs routine and specialized laboratory testing while ensuring compliance with established procedures, safety requirements, current Good Manufacturing Practices, and applicable regulatory standards. Recent graduates with a qualifying science degree are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently performs, interprets and troubleshoots laboratory procedures related to unit and/or donor suitability testing and other assays as required. Develops proficiency in laboratory information systems and workflow of samples.
  • Performs routine analytical testing using manual and automated methods and procedures. Analyzes test results against set controls.
  • Completes maintenance and Quality Control (QC) per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Works within the current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) guidelines and adheres to all regulatory standards within the Lab.
  • Shares information with internal contacts with common desire to reach a solution.
  • Follows all safety regulations, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies and rules. Maintains a clean, safe work environment.
  • Operates analytical instrumentation and technical laboratory equipment. Performs and documents troubleshooting and calibration of instructions. Performs and documents routine preventative maintenance of assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure. Notifies Supervisor of unresolved instrument issues.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned, including training in multiple departments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or a related field from an accredited institution; or
  • Associate degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution
  • Intermediate to strong computer skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and other laboratory departments.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and accurately document laboratory activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of related laboratory experience.
  • Previous experience working in a regulated, clinical, pharmaceutical, blood, or plasma laboratory environment.
