Job summary

Combined Metals Company is looking for a lab technician in Hampshire Township, Illinois. The role includes preparing metallographic cross sections and conducting Rockwell hardness testing. Candidates will assist with heat treatment, machine test specimens, and maintain laboratory equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare metallographic cross sections for evaluation.
• Prepare material for Rockwell hardness testing and perform hardness tests.
• Perform microhardness testing on prepared specimens.
• Assist with heat treatment of test specimens per specification requirements.
• Machine tensile test specimens and verify dimensions with hand tools.
• Assist with calibration of hand measurement tools.
• Assist in general upkeep and maintenance of laboratory equipment and workstations.
• Assist lead lab tech in sending testing to external laboratory.
• Participate in internal and external proficiency testing annually.
• Participate in continuous improvement.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
