Come join encapsulate.bio | as a Lab Technician - Tissue Culture & Organoid Biology (Oncology)!

Encapsulate Overview

Encapsulate Bio is a translational oncology biotechnology company developing advanced 3D tumor organoid and microphysiological systems to accelerate drug discovery and precision medicine. Our platforms integrate patient-derived models, high-content imaging, molecular biology, and functional assays to better predict therapeutic response and uncover novel biology.

We are building next-generation experimental pipelines that connect molecular profiling with functional phenotypes at scale — and we’re looking for a skilled Tissue Culture Technician to support this mission at the bench.

Lab Technician - Tissue Culture & Organoid Biology (Oncology) | Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tissue Culture Technician with hands-on experience in cell culture and a strong interest in 3D biology, organoid systems, and cancer research. This individual will be a core contributor to day-to-day laboratory operations, executing tissue culture workflows, supporting assay development, and maintaining the high-quality experimental standards our platforms depend on.

This is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in precise, reproducible bench work and wants to grow their skills in a cutting-edge biotech environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and advanced cell culture including 2D monolayer and 3D organoid/spheroid systems using established protocols
  • Assist in the culture and maintenance of patient-derived cancer organoids/tumoroids under direct supervision
  • Carry out molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, and basic sequencing workflows
  • Support histology and imaging workflows including fixation, embedding, sectioning, and IF/IHC staining
  • Execute functional assays measuring viability, proliferation, drug response, and apoptosis
  • Maintain accurate and thorough experimental records and contribute to SOP documentation
  • Assist in reagent preparation, inventory management, and general lab maintenance
  • Collaborate with scientists and cross-functional team members to support ongoing research projects
  • Contribute to troubleshooting culture and assay performance issues
Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture (coursework, research, or industry)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to reproducible, high-quality bench work
  • Good laboratory documentation and organizational skills
  • Eagerness to learn new techniques and work in a fast-paced startup environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with 3D cell culture, organoids, or spheroids
  • Familiarity with cancer biology or translational research
  • Exposure to histology, IF/IHC, or tissue-based assays
  • Experience with fluorescence or brightfield microscopy
  • Familiarity with image analysis tools (ImageJ/Fiji, CellProfiler, or similar)
  • Experience with multi-well format assays (96- / 384-well plates)
  • Prior experience in a biotech, pharmaceutical, or academic research lab setting
What We Offer
  • Hands-on training in cutting-edge organoid and translational biology platforms
  • A supportive, collaborative team environment with opportunities to grow your technical skillset
  • Real contribution to meaningful oncology research
