Evergreen Health in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our patient-centered care team. The role involves handling specimens, performing venipuncture and capillary blood collection, labeling and processing samples, and ensuring proper storage and shipment.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, CMA(AAMA) certification preferred, and current BLS/CPR. EMR experience with Medent is preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Handles laboratory specimens utilizing appropriate blood/body fluid precautions.
• Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages.
• Collects, labels, processes, and prepares laboratory specimens according to established protocols.
• Verifies patient identity using approved identification procedures.
• Ensures specimens are properly stored and handled prior to shipment.
• Processes specimens using centrifuges and other laboratory equipment as appropriate.
• Facilitates lab and diagnostic tests as requested by the ordering provider.
• Maintains exam rooms according to clinic policy; sanitizes rooms and equipment to maintain infection control.

The Laboratory Technician performs a wide variety of duties and responsibilities in a manner that places emphasis on quality of care and customer service. They collaborate to ensure a patient-centered approach to care. As part of the essential functions of this role, the Laboratory Technician:

• Handles laboratory specimens utilizing appropriate blood/body fluid precautions
• Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages
• Collects, labels, processes, and prepares laboratory specimens according to established protocols
• Verifies patient identity using approved identification procedures
• Ensures specimens are properly stored and handled prior to shipment
• Processes specimens utilizing centrifuges and other laboratory equipment as appropriate
• Facilitates lab and diagnostic tests at the request of the orderingprovider
• Maintains exam rooms according to clinic’s policy; sanitizes rooms and equipment between patients to ensure infection control standards are maintained

Qualified candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent; CMA(AAMA) certification preferred; current BLS/CPR certification with prior healthcare and EMR (Medent) experience preferred; awareness of and sensitivity to the issues and health disparities faced by underserved populations is essential

Job type: Full-time

Schedule:We are hiring two Laboratory Technicians- one based at our Hertel Ave. location (Monday and Wednesday 11:30-7:30 /Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9:30-5:30); and the other position will float between our four Buffalo area clinics (Monday-Friday, 9:00 to 5:00)

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Certification:current BLS/CPR required; CMA(AAMA) certification preferred

Experience: Prior healthcare and EMR (Medent) preferred but not required
