Summary

Two full-time Laboratory Technician positions are available in Dr. Xuewei Wang’s laboratory in the Department of Chemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). The successful candidates will support ongoing research in the areas of medical devices, microfluidics, and chemical sensors under the guidance of Dr. Wang and senior members of the research team. This is a full-time position with full fringe benefits.

Note: This is a restricted position and continuation of employment is contingent on the availability of funds.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Background in engineering, chemistry, biology, or a related field
• Demonstrated ability to collect, document, and organize experimental data reliably
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented research environment
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing and fabricating devices using 3D printing, laser cutting, or cleanroom technologies
• Familiarity with writing code using MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar programs
  
  
  

We are especially interested in candidates with prior experience in at least one of the following technical areas: 3D printing, laser cutting, microfabrication, microfluidics, optics, electronics, sensors, or biomaterials.
