Job summary

Olmsted Medical Center in Rochester, MN is seeking a Laboratory Technical Assistant - Phlebotomy to join our patient-focused laboratory team. This 1.0 FTE role covers day and rotating shifts with a starting pay range of $20.57 to $30.86 per hour based on experience.

Responsibilities include performing phlebotomy, specimen handling, and documentation in LIS, while ensuring strict safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Medical terminology preferred.
• Previous laboratory experience preferred.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficiency in phlebotomy collection techniques and patient management, including venipuncture, capillary puncture, and arterial puncture when applicable.
• Demonstrates proficiency in patient preparation and specimen collection for throat culture, urine, and other requested specimens.
• Demonstrates proficiency in waived level testing for immunology, urinalysis, chemistry, and hematology when applicable.
• Documents patient specimen flow in Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Processes specimens according to requirements and prepares specimens for dispatch to external labs as needed.
• Maintains a safe work environment and complies with standard precautions.
• Assists with new employee orientation and training.
• Performs other duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications:
