Job summary

University Hospitals Pain Management seeks a part-time laboratory support assistant to handle specimen procurement and processing, and provide essential lab support functions. The role requires accurate data entry, sterile technique, and phlebotomy as part of daily tasks.

Shifts are 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday through Friday with rotating weekends and holidays. Working hours total 20 per week, with emphasis on meeting department turnaround times and maintaining PHI security.

Qualifications

• Experience with specimen collection or processing is preferred.
• Ability to perform sterile technique and accurate aliquoting.
• Proficient data entry and adherence to turnaround time standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen procurement and/or processing of laboratory specimens.
• Provides laboratory support functions.
• Organizes tasks to meet departmental turnaround time standards.
• Performs computer data entry and laboratory processes including sterile technique, aliquoting and/or phlebotomy.
• Processes specimens for laboratory testing.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with policies and PHI handling requirements.
• Annual training and UH policies are observed.

• Processes specimens for laboratory testing.

• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.
• Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
• Part time 20 hours per week.
• Monday-Friday with rotating weekends and holidays.
• This is the day shift: 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
