Job summary

The Laboratory Assistant II at Children's Hospital Colorado performs clerical and/or technical duties of low to moderate complexity to support laboratory operations. Responsibilities include specimen preparation, data entry, inventory management, and assisting in compliance with SOPs.

Working in the Laboratory Administration and Support team, you will train staff, review procedures, handle QA tasks, and ensure accurate patient identification and specimen tracking in the EMR system.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year laboratory experience.
• CLIA or CAP certification preferred.
• EPIC familiarity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for distribution and analysis per SOPs.
• Assist in competency assessments and mentor new staff.
• Train employees and students per SOPs.
• Review and update department procedures for accuracy.
• Ensure proper patient identification and accurate test orders.
• Record temperatures and notify out-of-range values.
• Manage inventory and supplies for the lab.
