Job summary

GEL Laboratories, LLC in Charleston, SC seeks a Support Technician to receive client samples, inspect containers and preservatives, and document deviations to ensure environmental compliance for water, soil, and hazardous waste samples. Entry-level role with emphasis on accuracy, teamwork, and adherence to procedures.

The position calls for strong attention to detail, ability to work quickly in a warehouse-like setting, and effective communication with Project Managers; flexibility to work

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Six months shipping and receiving or related experience.
• Associate’s degree (with science or laboratory course completion) preferred.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions to properly receive samples from clients.
• Exhibits organizational skills and attention to detail.
• May work a Monday– Friday schedule or a Tuesday– Saturday schedule.

Responsibilities

• Receive samples from clients and inspect for proper containers, temperatures, preservatives, etc.
• Complete sample receipt forms based on method requirements and document deviations.
• Communicate issues to Project Managers as they arise.
• Label sample containers and place in appropriate storage locations.
• Fill sample bottle requests from clients.
• Assist in sub-contracting of samples to other laboratories.
• Support archiving and staging of samples.
• Demonstrate GEL core values and support operations in the laboratory.

GEL Laboratories,LLC, an affiliate of The GEL Group, Inc., is looking for a Support Technician to join our team of professionals in our Charleston, SC office toreceivesamples from clients and inspect for proper container, temperature, preservatives, etc.This position focuses onfollowingprocedures describing how to properly receive samples from clients in support ofenvironmental compliance programs for water, soil, and hazardous waste samples.This entry-level rolenecessitatesstrong attention to detail, proven ability to work both quickly and efficiently in a warehouse atmosphere, and the ability to work within a team structure.The successful candidate will be an effective communicator,have

flexibilityto come in early, stay late, and work weekends based on shipments of samples needing to be processed, andpossessa general understanding of laboratory protocols and procedures.

What You'll Do

Working Environment & Physical Demands

This position requires working in a busy production laboratory, safely handling and storing RAD Safety-controlled material and samples. Safety is a priority, and negligence is not tolerated. Safety equipment is provided, and use is mandatory.

• Precise hand/eye coordination and finger/hand manipulation.
• Potential exposure to chemicals and to hazardous and/or radioactive materials.

• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
