Job summary

Eastern Washington University’s CSTEM division seeks an Instructional Classroom Support Technician 2 to assist the Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physics departments. The role focuses on operations, safety, instructional support, and compliant laboratory readiness across courses.

You will help faculty prepare reagents and equipment, supervise safety orientations, maintain inventory, and respond to lab emergencies, with regular M-F hours and occasional evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in the natural sciences.
• Equivalent combination of training, formal education and/or research training or service laboratory operations experience.
• Flexibility in meeting student and faculty needs.

Responsibilities

• Lab setup accurately and on time each quarter.
• Maintenance of equipment and instructional instruments.
• Timely lab setup, breakdown, and reset.
• Report safety incidents.
• Perform safety inspections.
• Complete safety orientations.
• Chem storage, labeling, disposal compliance.
• Timely response to lab emergencies.
• Maintain chemical inventory & tracking.
• Dispose chemical waste per regulations.
• Organize stockroom & audits.
• Assist with courses and demonstrations.
• Support faculty lab readiness.
• Suggest improvements to lab procedures.
• Complete records and reports on time.
• Implement new policies by deadlines.
