Job summary

Terracon Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Manager to coordinate and oversee construction and geotechnical materials testing programs in Springfield, Missouri.

You will ensure testing is performed safely, on time, and in accordance with quality protocols, while directing staff training and equipment maintenance. Responsibilities include developing and enforcing policies, supporting proposals and cost estimates, supervising personnel, managing laboratory resources, and ensuring compliance

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years' experience performing laboratory tests on construction and geotechnical materials.
• Certification by qualified national, regional or state authorities (ACI, NICET, DOT) or in‑house certification is required in areas such as concrete, aggregates, soil and rock, or road and paving materials.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

Responsibilities

• Provides supplemental operating policies and procedures unique to the laboratory to ensure testing services are accomplished in accordance with Terracon's quality protocol.
• Assists Department Management during proposals and cost estimates for laboratory testing services.
• Ensures laboratory personnel are trained, supervised and equipped for personal safety in the office and lab.
• Supervises laboratory activities to ensure work is completed on time and in accordance with client and project requirements and company standards.
• Ensures adherence to the company Quality program and the Construction Materials Quality Management System (QMS).
• Evaluates the performance of laboratory employees and assists in their professional development.
• Oversees calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment and ensures lab area cleanliness.
