Job summary

The academic medical center in Boston seeks a Laboratory Supervisor – Blood Bank to lead daily operations, ensure testing accuracy, and oversee staffing. You will mentor technologists, uphold CLIA/CAP/state regulations, and partner with leadership to maintain patient safety and high-quality results.

Shift: Monday–Friday 3:00pm–11:30pm with rotating weekends; strong supervisory and regulatory experience required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Technologist/Technician.
• Associate's degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology (Bachelor's preferred).
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred; strong knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and state laboratory regulations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of the Blood Bank department; ensure testing/reporting accuracy.
• Oversee staffing schedules, performance, and training of lab personnel.
• Maintain compliance with CLIA, CAP, and state requirements.
• Perform bench work as needed; ensure adherence to lab protocols.
• Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate with leadership to uphold patient care and safety.
• Provide mentorship and leadership to laboratory staff.
• Ensure documentation and reporting in the lab information system.
• Monitor inventory and order supplies for uninterrupted operations.
• Prepare for inspections and audits by regulators.
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:00pm–11:30pm with rotating weekends.
