Job summary

Bridgeport Hospital, part of Yale NewHaven Health, seeks a Laboratory Technician to receive, accession and process specimens and to assist with general lab operations. You will work in coordination with Medical Laboratory Scientists to ensure accurate data entry, timely reporting of results, and adherence to hospital policies.

Responsibilities include telephone support, registration in HIS, basic testing, equipment maintenance, and assisting with training.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalency exam.
• Experience not required.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive, accession and process specimens to ensure timely reporting.
• Handle telephone inquiries and assist with general lab supply management.
• Register in HIS as needed.
• Perform testing as needed and troubleshoot specimen-related problems.
• Maintain hardware and equipment.
• Support training of new employees.
• Assist with blood bank, microbiology, and pathology tasks as applicable.
