Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Specimen Processor to join our team at Ascension St. Mary's in Milwaukee, WI. This role involves 2nd shift hours and processing of pathology specimens in a high-volume clinical lab environment.

You will accession, process, and prepare specimens, maintain equipment, and support the pathology workflow with accurate data entry and collaboration with team members. Prior experience in a clinical or medical setting is beneficial.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Six months or more clinical or medical industry work experience preferred.
  • Experience with data entry and documentation in a lab setting helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process anatomic pathology specimens.
  • Accession and label specimens accurately.
  • Prepare and load tissue processing runs.
  • Cut and stain frozen sections as needed.
  • Maintain histology instrumentation and troubleshoot issues.
  • Pack, ship, and track specimens for testing.
  • Enter patient data accurately in the system.
  • Assist on fine needle aspiration procedures as required.

LabCorp is seeking a Laboratory Specimen Processor to join our team at Ascension St. Mary's in Milwaukee, WI.
Work Schedule: 2nd Shift; Monday - Friday 12:00PM - 8:30PM
Job Responsibilities:
  • Receiving and processing anatomic pathology specimens
  • Accessioning anatomic pathology specimens
  • Preparing and loading tissue processing runs
  • Cutting and staining frozen section tissues
  • Performing maintenance on histology instrumentation
  • Distributing pathology materials
  • Assisting on fine needle aspiration procedures
  • Other tasks including but not limited to: Filing slides and blocks, restocking laboratory supplies
  • Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
  • Accurately identify and label specimens
  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
  • Meet department activity and production goals
  • Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
  • Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
  • Resolve and document any problem specimens
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months or more clinical or medical industry work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6 months or more clinical specimen processing or specimen receiving experience
Additional Job Standards:
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
