Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Support Services Team Leader for Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital – Ozaukee Campus in Mequon, WI. The role schedules 1st shift, with weekdays 8:30am–5:00pm and rotating weekends/holidays.

You will supervise core laboratory and blood bank operations, ensuring accurate testing and process improvements. The ideal candidate has an Associate degree in a chemical/biological science and 4+ years as MLT or 2+ years MLS, with preferred ASCP/AMT certification

Qualifications

• Associates degree in chemical/biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• 4+ years of experience as MLT or 2+ years as MLS.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of CLIA, CAP and state regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day operations of core and blood bank labs.
• Perform routine and complex procedures per SOPs.
• Monitor, troubleshoot instrumentation for proper function.
• Lead the team in daily processes and procedures.
• Prepare specimens for analysis and testing.
• Oversee specimen routing to prep areas.
• Encourage process improvements and best practices.
• Conduct quality assurance checks for efficiency and accuracy.
• Resolve production errors and escalate when needed.
• Engage in continuous process and service level improvements.
• Enforce policies and procedures; perform administrative duties.

LabCorp is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Support Services Team Leader to join our team at Ascension Columbia St. Mary's Hospital - Ozaukee Campus in Mequon, WI

Job Responsibilities

• Assist in the supervision of the day to day operations of the core laboratory and blood bank clinical laboratory departments
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Help lead the team in their daily processes and procedures
• Assist with preparation of laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
• Oversee routing of specimens to their respective prep areas
• Encourage process improvements and best practices
• Perform quality assurance checks to ensure efficiency and accuracy
• Resolve any production errors as requested by management
• Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary
• Engage in continuous process and service level improvements
• Perform quality assurance checks to ensure efficiency and accuracy
• Responsible for enforcing and managing policies and procedures
• Perform administrative duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Associates degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
• 4 or more years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) OR 2 or more years or more of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLS)

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
• 2 years or more of experience as a generalist
• 2 years or more of experience in blood bank
• 1 year or more of experience supervising or leading a teamASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirement
• Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
• Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• High level of attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills
• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to make decisions in a fast paced environment
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
