The role involves admitting patients, collecting samples, and preparing and labeling specimens for testing within the LIS, while ensuring accurate patient identification and policy compliance. You will operate the pneumatic tube system, prioritize stat specimens, centrifuge and aliquot samples, and deliver and store specimens properly.

Qualifications

  • No experience required; on-the-job training provided.
  • One year in a clinical laboratory is desirable.
  • High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Admits patients and processes specimens and orders in the LIS.
  • Ensures proper patient identification and labeling; rejects specimens per policy.
  • Operates pneumatic tube system, prioritizes routine and stat specimens.
  • Centrifuges and aliquots specimens according to tests ordered; labels tubes.
  • Delivers specimens to laboratory areas and stores them properly.
  • Communicates results to physicians; fax results upon request.
  • Abide by regulatory and infection control guidelines.
  • Perform phlebotomy, morgue duties, and waived or moderately complex testing as approved by Medical Director.

Operates the pneumatic tube system, prioritizes specimens into routine and stat, centrifuges and aliquots specimens according to tests ordered, accurately label all tubes, accurately deliver specimens to laboratory areas, and properly store all specimens. Communicate test results to physicians, fax results upon request. Abide by all regulatory and infection control guidelines. Perform phlebotomy, morgue duties, and waived or moderately complex testing as needed and approved by Medical Director.
