Job summary

Labcorp seeks a Laboratory Specimen Processor to join the team at Columbia St. Mary's in Mequon, WI. The role involves receiving and processing pathology specimens, accessioning, preparing runs, and maintaining histology equipment.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and basic data entry skills. Preferred candidates have small-quantity clinical specimen handling experience and comfort working in a lab team.

  • Six months or more clinical or medical industry work experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving and processing anatomic pathology specimens
  • Accessioning anatomic pathology specimens
  • Preparing and loading specimen processing runs
  • Performing maintenance on histology instrumentation
  • Distributing pathology materials
  • Assisting on fine needle aspiration procedures
  • Restocking laboratory supplies
  • Unpack and route specimens to staging areas
  • Identify and label specimens accurately
  • Pack and ship specimens to testing facilities
  • Meet department activity and production goals
  • Prepare and store excess specimen samples
  • Data entry of patient information in a timely manner
  • Resolve and document any problem specimens

LabCorp is seeking a Laboratory Specimen Processor to join our Team at Columbia St. Mary's in Mequon, WI.
Work Schedule: 1st Shift; Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm.
Job Responsibilities

  • Receiving and processing anatomic pathology specimens
  • Accessioning anatomic pathology specimens
  • Preparing and loading specimen processing runs
  • Performing maintenance on histology instrumentation
  • Distributing pathology materials
  • Assisting on fine needle aspiration procedures
  • Other tasks include but not limited to restocking laboratory supplies
  • Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
  • Accurately identify and label specimens
  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
  • Meet department activity and production goals
  • Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
  • Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
  • Resolve and document any problem specimens
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months or more clinical or medical industry work experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6 months or more clinical specimen processing or specimen receiving experience
Additional Job Standards
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
