Qualifications

  • Leadership experience with laboratory operations and staff management.

Responsibilities

  • Direct/Manage/Supervise student-teaching laboratory services and stockroom within the ECE Department.
  • Oversee cost control, waste reduction, quality, and safety; ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Lead security and access operator for the university C-CURE system and act as EHS compliance officer.
  • Ensure equipment maintenance and full regulatory compliance; manage planning for new services.
  • Track and report student lab fees, inventory, and department budget; coordinate scheduling.
  • Oversee hiring, firing, performance appraisals, time cards, and pay reviews.
  • Provide leadership with broad knowledge of the field.

Laboratory Services Manager

Job Summary Oversee and manage ECE student teaching laboratories and stockroomoperations, including safety and regulatory compliance, equipmentmaintenance, inventory, budgeting, scheduling, and security. Leadlaboratory staff and personnel processes while ensuring efficient,high-quality operations and reporting to upperadministration.

Responsibilities

Direct/Manage/Supervise student-teaching laboratory services andstockroom within the ECE Department. Oversee all laboratoryactivities, services and operations responsible for cost control,waste reduction, quality, and safety. Lead security and accessoperator for university C-CURE system. Departmental EnvironmentalHealth and Safety (EHS) compliance officer ensuring training forlab staff and compliance reporting. Ensure lab equipment is inproper working order, oversee maintenance and ensure fullcompliance with regulatory requirements, standards, and protocols.Manage planning and development for new laboratory services andexpansion of current services such as 3D and resin printing. Track,report and maintain student lab fee budget and associatedinventory. Coordinate with scheduling to meet coursespecifications. Oversee inventory reporting and property disposalfor the department. Prepare reports and keep upper-level managementinformed of progress and problems. Responsible for hiring, firing,performance appraisals, time card approvals and pay reviews. Broadknowledge of the field with proven leadership skills.

Minimum Qualifications

EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Department may hire employee at one of the following joblevels:

Manager, Laboratory Services: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.

Senior Manager, Laboratory Services: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 8 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience.

Preferences

Electrical Engineering degree may be preferred.

Master's degree may be preferred.
