Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach is seeking a Lab Supervisor to oversee the clerical and technical operations of the pathology and diagnostic laboratory. The role ensures accurate billing, medical necessity review for expensive tests, and documentation of corrective actions.

You will maintain clinical knowledge through meetings, facilitate staff continuing education, and work with leadership to achieve department goals and safety compliance in a busy hospital lab.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Lab Supervisor or eligible by the State of Florida.

Responsibilities

• Ensures coverage of the clerical and technical operations of the pathology and diagnostics laboratory.
• Ensures that the billing cycle is accurate and timely including credits and cancellations; ensures that the more expensive esoteric sendout tests are reviewed for medical necessity prior to sending out.
• Ensures that critical functions of the department are performed and documented including corrective action as needed.
• Maintains current level of clinical knowledge by participating in local or national meetings.
• Faciliates continuing education for staff.
• Oversees the clinical teaching program with the chairman and ensures goals are met.
