Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia’s Department of Pathology - Trinh Lab is seeking a Laboratory Research Technician with a strong educational background in the sciences to support the research and laboratory activities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with lab housekeeping, animal studies and bioinformatic analyses.

This wage position is limited to 1500 hours of work per year and does not include leave or benefits.

Qualifications

Education: Associate's degree required; may accept equivalent combination of experience, education, certification in lieu of degree.
Experience: 2+ years of lab experience which may include student experience.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in related field or higher.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of laboratory procedures supporting research.
Ensure compliance with biosafety and laboratory safety regulations and sanitation protocols.
Apply knowledge of research and testing procedures, and animal handling, care, and welfare practices.
Maintain accurate records and utilize word processing and statistical software for data analysis and reporting.
Collaborate with co-workers, supervisors, students, faculty, and research staff to discuss study techniques, results, and animal care.
