Job summary

The Department of Pathology - Trinh Lab with Commonwealth of VA Careers is seeking a Laboratory Research Technician to support research activities. The role requires hands-on experience in lab housekeeping, animal studies, and bioinformatic analyses, with emphasis on accurate record keeping and data reporting.

This wage position is limited to 1500 hours per year and does not include leave benefits. Background checks and an Education Verification plus Health Screen will be conducted for new hires.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required; may accept equivalent combination of experience, education, certification in lieu of degree.
• 2+ years of lab experience.
• Licensure: None.
• Background checks and health screening required.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of laboratory procedures supporting research.
• Ensure compliance with biosafety and laboratory safety regulations and sanitation protocols.
• Apply knowledge of research and testing procedures, and animal handling, care, and welfare practices.
• Maintain accurate records and utilize word processing and statistical software for data analysis and reporting.
• Collaborate frequently with co‑workers, supervisors, students, faculty, and research staff to discuss study techniques, results, and animal care.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
