Job summary

Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls, OH is seeking a Laboratory Reference Tech to support specimen collection, processing, and reference testing. This full-time day shift role involves coordinating send-out tests, handling billing information, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications include a Diploma or better in Medical Assisting and prior laboratory experience. Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with no weekends or holidays.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen collection procedures, sample processing and handling, distribution of samples to work areas and preparation of samples for send out to reference labs.
• Researches various unique reference tests and identifies appropriate collection and handling processes.
• Obtains billing information from reference laboratories.
• Manages workload for all applicable send-out and histology/pathology processing.
• Performs general clerical functions and maintains applicable record-keeping documents as necessary.
• Performs a limited number of routine laboratory tests.
• Accepts and/or rejects specimens according to established standards.
