Job summary

The MetroHealth System is seeking a Laboratory Quality Specialist to facilitate quality assessment activities within Pathology Admin & Support Services. You will ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, TJC standards, and lead improvements in procedures while training staff and residents.

The role requires strong collaboration across teams, dedicated to patient safety and adherence to system policies. Location at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, OH.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology with at least two years of training/experience in nonwaived testing.
• 5 years of progressively more responsible experience in the designated clinical laboratory specialty.
• Experience with laboratory equipment and computer systems.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Reliable transportation and ability to rotate locations within The MetroHealth System.
• Ability to work with diverse backgrounds.
• Preferred: 10 years of progressively more responsible experience in the designated specialty.
• Experience in quality assurance preferred.
• Registered MT/ASCP, MLS/ASCP, or appropriate ASCP specialty.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates quality assessment activities for Laboratory Services including patient safety initiatives, regulatory and accreditation compliance.
• Ensures testing adheres to departmental/system guidelines and CAP/TJC/CLIA standards.
• Identifies and recommends improvements in operating procedures.
• Provides training to laboratory staff and residents.
• Cooperates with a diverse group of people and skills in daily operations.
• Upholds MetroHealth System policies, mission, vision, values and customer service standards.
