Division/Program Description
The NYC Public Health Laboratory (PHL) is one of the largest local public health laboratories in the United States, offering a dynamic and innovative work environment where employees contribute to the health and safety of NYC residents by providing clinical and environmental laboratory testing services. With over 100 years of leadership in public health, a team of more than 200 scientific and support staff is committed to its mission to safeguard the health of all NYC residents by providing quality laboratory testing services that support the priorities of the NYC DOHMH and its community partners to prevent and respond to public health concerns.

Hiring Rate: $72,190 (Flat Rate)

The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's Public Health Laboratory seeks to hire two qualified Laboratory Project Coordinators. The mission is to address NYC public health needs through quality laboratory testing for food, clinical, and environmental health concerns.

Responsibilities
  • Perform queries and generate reports using electronic databases and laboratory systems to support testing for emerging pathogens such as COVID-19 and Mpox.
  • Evaluate laboratory data through cleaning, assembling datasets, and analyzing results to inform purchasing decisions.
  • Conduct data analyses using Excel, Access, SAS, or SPSS.
  • Participate in research investigations, grants, and special projects related to emerging pathogens.
  • Assist in operational projects including inventory management, resource requests, and specimen handling.
  • Serve as a liaison among PHL leadership, testing supervisors, and other DOHMH bureaus.

Minimum Qualifications
