Meritus Health is seeking a Laboratory Processor to support specimen receipt, preparation, and data entry in a fast-paced clinical setting. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate test results and timely processing for providers and patients.

The ideal candidate has prior laboratory or medical office experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the care team.

Responsibilities

• Receive, register, and verify patient specimens and test requests.
• Review demographics, billing information, and diagnoses; resolve discrepancies.
• Serve as a resource for specimen inquiries and maintain records.
• Prepare specimens through centrifugation, labeling, and packaging.
• Ensure proper storage, handling, and shipment for in-house and reference testing.
• Enter data accurately and manage electronic and paper records.
• Communicate critical values and manage failed fax notifications.
• Follow laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards.
• Work independently with sound judgment and attention to detail.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives.

Your work directly supports providers, patients, and the clinical teams who rely on timely, precise lab results.

What You’ll Do

In this essential role, you’ll support laboratory operations by:

• Receiving, registering, and verifying patient specimens and test requests for accuracy
• Reviewing patient demographics, billing information, and diagnoses, and resolving discrepancies
• Serving as a key resource for specimen inquiries while providing excellent customer service
• Preparing specimens through centrifugation, aliquoting, labeling, measuring, and packaging
• Ensuring proper storage, handling, and shipment of specimens for in-house and reference testing
• Accurately entering data, scanning documents, and maintaining electronic and paper records
• Communicating critical values and managing failed fax notifications as needed
• Following laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards at all times
• Working independently while exercising sound judgment and attention to detail
• Contributing to process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and quality

What We’re Looking For

• Prior laboratory or medical office experience

• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Comfort working with data entry, documentation, and laboratory systems
• Knowledge of or ability to learn laboratory safety practices and specimen handling procedures

Work Environment & Expectations

• Frequent concentration and sustained attention to detail
• Regular handling of laboratory specimens and materials
• Physical tasks may include standing, lifting up to 30 lbs, bending, and fine hand-eye coordination
• Adherence to all safety protocols and infection prevention standards
