IDEXX Laboratories, Inc in NORTH GRAFTON, MA is hiring a Veterinary Medical Laboratory Technician. You will perform laboratory testing using automated analyzers, microscopes, and other diagnostic tools to help veterinarians diagnose animal illnesses.

This full-time role offers a third shift with a $3/hr differential, day-one benefits, comprehensive training, and opportunities for career advancement in a fast-paced, teamwork-oriented environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Use automated analyzers and microscopes to perform analyses on animal samples.
• Set up, run, and read lab tests according to SOPs.
• Read and release results with accuracy and speed.
• Work in departments such as Parasitology, Hematology, Serology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Cytology.
• Collaborate with team to support veterinary care objectives.

As Veterinary Medical Laboratory Technician at IDEXX, you perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets. In this role:

• You will use automated analyzers, microscopes and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
• You will perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal or pet biopsy samples that we receive in our lab by the thousands, every day.
• You will set up and run lab tests, then read and release results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
• You could work in any of the following departments: Parasitology (fecal matter), Hematology, Serology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Cytology. If you have specialized training in any of these areas, please let your interviewer aware.

What you need to succeed:

• You possess a High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.A 2-, 3- or 4-year degree in a Science-related field is preferred.
• You must have worked an alternate shift in the past (overnight or flex shift)
• This is a 3rd shift position-attendance and punctuality are essential.
• You will be required to work with veterinary clinical samples: blood, urine, fecal samples, surgical biopsies, etc. PPE is provided (lab coat, protective eyewear, gloves, etc.)
• It is not required to work in our lab, but if you were a Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT)or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT), this experience and education would be a plus.
• Ideally, you will have experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting and / or clinical diagnostic analyzers).
• You have a positive attitude and love to bring that energy into the lab every day to support your colleagues

• You have a great sense of team spirit and responsibility
• Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab - standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability - close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• This is a laboratory, so there is potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.

Schedule:

• The schedule for this position is: Monday- Friday with rotating Saturday shifts
• The hours for this position are: 11:30pm - 8:00am
• The shifts and hours may vary slightly depending on business needs.
• Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.
