Qualifications

• Three or more years of laboratory experience including supervisory experience.
• Operational knowledge of advanced lab equipment.
• Ability to supervise others.
• Ability to initiate and compose communications for various purposes in an appropriate style.
• Ability to develop instructional material for routine training purposes.
• Ability to review goals, analyze processes and apply new knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day activities within the research laboratory, including operation of essential equipment and ensuring supplies.
• Act as liaison between lab and HHMI/host institution administrative offices on budget, assets, purchasing, and accounts.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements through liaison with host offices.
• Develop laboratory guidelines; maintain procedures manuals; evaluate new materials/equipment.
• Train incoming personnel in proper lab conduct and supervise junior staff as needed.
• May carry out research projects and evaluate new techniques and technology.
• Plan for and provide working supervision to lab technicians and other personnel.
