Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital seeks an Operations Manager to oversee daily laboratory operations and ensure compliance with standards. The ideal candidate will lead staff performance and development while working collaboratively with hospital departments.

Mass General Brigham (MGB) Enterprise Pathology is a major strategic integrated service with several system-wide initiatives that will create synergies and efficiencies across MGB laboratory locations, including all AMC, specialty and community sites. Enterprise Pathology will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of laboratory testing across MGB hospitals and advance strategic collaborations in clinical excellence, quality, access and cost efficiency. Reporting to the hospital Laboratory Administrative Director, and in close collaboration with the CLIA Laboratory Director, the Operations Manager is responsible for the daily operational oversight of the clinical departments of the laboratory, including staffing, training and efficient workflows. The Operations Manager will monitor and follow up on safety reports, oversee quality, safety and compliance programs that align with Enterprise models, and manage section managers and/or supervisors to support supply chain, human resources, compliance, emergency planning and financial success. The position participates in MGB Pathology and local hospital committees as assigned and requires strong management skills and a collaborative approach in working with leaders locally and within the system. This is an on-site role.
Works in conjunction with the Chief/Chair, Administrative Director, and the MGB Pathology Compliance team to ensure adherence to all CAP, TJC, CLIA, CLSI (NCCLS), FDA, and DPH standards, and leads external and self-inspections.
Provides direct oversight, including performance evaluations and leadership development, operations meetings, for all technical department supervisory staff and support supervisory staff. Serves as interim section leader as required. Supports employee engagement and partners on people management/human resources within a culture of respect.
Provides direct oversight of the educational program within the laboratory, including continuing education activities, proficiency testing, and development of programs to ensure timely and reliable education of technical and non-technical staff and students.
Collaborates with hospital departments, providers, and outpatient sites to provide efficient and accurate test results. Researches safety reports and responds with follow-up and improvement initiatives as needed.
Works with the Administrative Director to identify priorities for capital and system testing alignment. Creates budgets and monitors variance for fiscal responsibility. Explores benchmarking and process improvement to reduce costs and improve services.
Represents the hospital laboratory on any committees, work groups, and initiatives as delegated. Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all policies and standards.
Education: Bachelor's Degree Medical Laboratory Science required or Bachelor's Degree Chemistry required or Bachelor's Degree Biology required
Licenses and Credentials: Medical Technologist (ASCP) [MLT, MT, MLA, Histologists] - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) required
