Job summary

AmeriStaff Employment & Staffing Solutions is seeking a Laboratory Manager for a manufacturing operation in Martinsville, VA. This role provides technical leadership and operational oversight for laboratory activities supporting metal processing, ensuring accurate analytical testing and compliance.

You will lead laboratory staff, develop SOPs and QA/QC programs, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help drive safe, efficient production with high-quality results.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of five (5) years of industrial laboratory experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or management experience leading laboratory personnel and daily laboratory operations.
• Relevant certifications in laboratory management, quality systems, or safety preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for laboratory operations to support production, quality, research, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Supervise, coach, develop, and evaluate laboratory personnel while establishing performance expectations and fostering accountability.
• Develop, implement, and maintain laboratory policies, SOPs, quality systems, and best practices.
• Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and retention of laboratory personnel.
• Oversee QA/QC programs, monitor analytical performance, validate methods, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to laboratory operations and safety.
• Promote a proactive laboratory safety culture and maintain data integrity.
