Job summary

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology with supervised clinical internship, ASCP MT/MLS/CLS certification or equivalent, and BLS. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology with supervised clinical internship.
• All CLIA88 prerequisite education and/or experience required.
• Certification as MT/MLS/CLS (ASCP) or equivalent MT/HEW/AMT/CLS(NCA).
• BLS Required.
• Minimum 6 months supervised clinical internship in an approved laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Participates in collection of specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Coordinates processes for referring tests to outside contracted laboratory.
• Adheres to established methods, quality control procedures and maintenance schedules.
• Identifies unusual results or abnormalities and ensures accuracy of results.
• Ensures adequate supplies and regulatory compliance; OSHA compliance and universal precautions.
• Maintains instruments and documents maintenance; performs QC and investigates out-of-control runs.
• Reports results timely and communicates critical values; participates in continuing education.
