HCA Florida West Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Manager to assist the Director with leadership for planning, implementation, integration, and coordination of Laboratory Services. The role supports regulatory compliance and operational excellence for the facility in Pensacola.

The position involves developing short and long-term programs, coordinating daily activities, and participating in hiring to maintain a qualified team, while promoting patient safety and a culture of high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 3+ years in laboratory as Medical Technologist.
• 1+ year in a leadership role.
• Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor License with qualification in Microbiology, Serology, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, or Immunohematology.
• Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor License with qualifications in Microbiology, Serology, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Immunohematology, Molecular Pathology.
• MT (ASCP) or CLS (ASCP) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist Director with development of short and long-term laboratory programs and project plans.
• Assist with planning and coordination of department's daily activities and operations.
• Participate in hiring to recruit qualified personnel.
• Provide direction to staff and supervisors of the Laboratory.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, Joint Commission, CAP, and local regulatory requirements.

Seeking a Laboratory Manager for our West Florida Hospital to assist Director with leadership for planning, management, implementation, integration, and coordination of the Laboratory Services in support of facility.

What you will do in this role

• Assists Director with development of specific short and long-term programs and project plans for laboratory.
• Assists with planning and coordination of department’s daily activities and the operational efficiency and effectiveness.
• Participates in hiring process to include effectively interviewing and selected a qualified number of personnel as required to meet department’s objectives.
• Provides direction to staff and supervisors of the Laboratory.
• Assists Director with ensuring the department meets and adheres to all applicable federal, state, Joint Commission, CAP, and local regulatory agency requirements for ensuring the departments success in any regulatory survey.
• Participates in various committees and other task forces as established by management to plan, organize, and drive the facility to meet operational and business goals.
• Fosters a culture that inspires commitment to the vision/mission/values of the organization. Ensures employees are recognized, valued, and supported. Develops and implements strategies to elevate employee engagement.
• Identifies development opportunities or training needs of individual employees and teams. Provides coaching, feedback, and training to improve performance.
• Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system.
• Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
• Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Promoting consistent positive patient interactions that advance the agenda of unparalleled patient service

What Qualifications you will need

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 3+ year of experience in Laboratory as Medical Technologist
• 1+ year of experience in leadership role
• Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor License with a qualification in one or more of the 5 following areas: Microbiology, Serology, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, or Immunohematology
• Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor License with qualifications in all of the 6 following areas: Microbiology, Serology, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Immunohematology, Molecular Pathology
• MT (ASCP) or CLS (ASCP)
