Job summary

AHMC Anaheim Regional Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in a supervisory role to schedule, coordinate and monitor all Laboratory operations (except Microbiology). The role ensures adherence to quality standards, regulatory compliance and patient care excellence within AHMC facilities.

The position requires a doctoral or bachelor’s degree in a laboratory science or medical technology, plus extensive supervisory experience in an acute care laboratory setting.

• Earned a doctoral or bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Schedules, coordinates and monitors day-to-day operational functions of all Laboratory sections (except Microbiology).
• Implements quality standards and provides oversight of section processes to ensure quality patient care.
• Maintains department readiness for regulatory inspections and compliance.
• Assists Director in evaluating employee performance and recruitment/hiring decisions.
• Participates in data collection/analysis for management and quality improvement.

Job description

Schedules, coordinates and monitors the day to day operational functions of all Laboratory sections except Microbiology. Implements quality standards and provides oversight of section processes to achieve excellent outcome and qualitypatient care. Performs Laboratory testing on patient and control samples, and/or prepares blood components for transfusion. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures. This knowledge includes the use of specialized analytical instrumentation, clinical correlation of test results, quality control requirements, and preventative maintenance. Maintains department readiness for regulatory inspections and compliance requirements. Maintains department policy and procedure manuals in accordance with hospital policy. Is responsible for department quality control records, instrument maintenance, regulatory agency compliance, and supply process. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process through professional development, continuing education, data collection and evaluation, and quality assurance. Develops and maintains orientation, training and competency tools and ensures compliance. Assists the Director in evaluating and documenting employee performance. Assists Director in the recruitment, hiring, termination and retention of employees. Coordinates staff development activities of section including education, competency completion, validation, and orientation. Participates in data collection and analysis as requestedby management. Maximizes efficiency in section operations. Exhibits willingness to resolve problems as they arise. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of AHMC- Anaheim Regional Medical Center and AHMC Inc. Education/Training/Experience

• Earned a doctoral or bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.

• Six years experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in an acute care laboratory with 4 years supervisory.
