  • Current enrollment in a chemistry/biochemistry/chemical engineering program with lab components.
  • Completion of at least 20 science credit hours and a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Ability to perform precise pipetting, weighing, and data entry with notebooks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare laboratory samples, reagents, standards, and mobile phases per SOPs.
  • Operate instrumentation (HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, pH meters) under supervision.
  • Calibrate, verify, and perform minor instrument maintenance as needed.
  • Document results in notebooks and review data with Empower software.
  • Maintain cGMP/data integrity and assist with data checks.

Job description

The Analytical Laboratory Intern will gain hands-on, real-lab experience by assisting our scientific team with day-to-day operations, sample processing, and instrumental analysis. Working directly under scientists/senior scientists, you will apply classroom knowledge to industry-standard testing, data verification, and quality control procedures. This role is designed to build foundational technical skills required for a career in biotechnology or pharmaceutical laboratory sciences.Job Responsibilities:Technical & Instrumentation SupportPrepare laboratory samples, reagents, standards, and mobile phases according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).Operate analytical instrumentation (such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, and pH meters) under direct supervision.Perform routine calibration, verification, and minor maintenance tasks on laboratory instruments.Assist in conducting wet chemistry techniques, extractions, and basic pipetting operations.Data Integrity & DocumentationDocument experimental results accurately in laboratory notebooks.Process and review chromatographic and spectroscopic data using laboratory software (e.g., Empower)Adhere strictly to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and data integrity guidelines.Assist with administrative data checks and verification of raw data.Operations & Lab Work EnvironmentReceive, log, and track samples ensuring proper chain-of-custody control.Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant workspace.Manage lab inventory by monitoring, labeling, and replenishing chemical reagents and consumables.Follow all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines and handle hazardous materials responsibly.REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Ability to execute highly precise tasks, trace errors, and accurately document numbers.Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and basic comfort learning proprietary laboratory software.Strong verbal and written skills for reporting findings to a collaborative team.A proactive attitude with the flexibility to pivot between routine maintenance and complex project workflows.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:Currently a graduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related science field.Completion of at least 20 credit hours of science coursework, including introductory chemistry with lab components.Minimum high school cumulative GPA of 3.0.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Ability to stand or walk for extended periods within a laboratory environment.Skills required for precise pipetting, weighing, and handling fragile glassware.Ability to lift up to 25–50 pounds of lab supplies or sample containers.Must wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including lab coats, safety glasses, and gloves.WORKING ENVIRONMENT:Office and lab-based positionCOMPENSATION:$16-$18 Per HourNJ Bio, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
