  • Set up, configure, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and supporting equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with scientists and engineers to develop and assemble experimental test setups.
  • Execute experiments and test procedures and document test conditions, observations, and results.
  • Collect, organize, and perform preliminary review of experimental data and assist scientists and engineers with interpretation of results.
  • Assemble and modify laboratory test apparatus, prototype equipment, and supporting hardware.
  • Configure and connect vacuum and gas-handling components, instrumentation, sensors, tubing, valves, and related hardware.
  • Perform vacuum system setup, leak checking, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance.

  • Support commissioning and checkout of new laboratory equipment and experimental systems.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration records, test documentation, and experimental configurations.
  • Support development and improvement of laboratory procedures and equipment operating practices.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and effective laboratory work environment.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Associate degree in engineering technology, physical science, instrumentation, electronics, or a related technical field with relevant hands-on experience; or a bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience operating, assembling, maintaining, or troubleshooting laboratory or experimental equipment.
  • Experience working with instrumentation, sensors, data acquisition systems, or analytical equipment.
  • Ability to follow technical procedures and accurately document experimental activities and results.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative laboratory environment with scientists, engineers, and technicians.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance and nuclear site access.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with residual gas analyzers, mass spectrometers, gas analyzers, spectroscopy equipment, or similar analytical instrumentation.
  • Experience with vacuum systems, pumps, valves, fittings, leak detection, and vacuum instrumentation.
  • Experience assembling or modifying experimental or prototype equipment.
  • Experience with gas-handling systems and associated instrumentation.
  • Experience configuring data acquisition systems, sensors, signal conditioning, or basic control systems.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment calibration and preventive maintenance.
