Responsibilities span data collection, sample handling, and basic molecular prep, with emphasis on accuracy and protocol compliance; the position is hourly and commensurate with qualifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of related experience.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Knowledge of basic laboratory safety and aseptic technique.
• Ability to follow written and verbal protocols precisely and to keep accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Collects samples and measurement data from laboratory experiments and field trials, following protocols.
• Computes quantifications (e.g., CFU/mL) and extends projections in spreadsheets under supervision.
• Assembles and operates technical equipment such as incubators and microscopes.
• Performs routine microbiological tasks including media preparation and aseptic technique.
• Assists with DNA/RNA extraction, PCR setup, and sample preparation for sequencing.
