Job summary

Shell Technology Center Houston is seeking a Laboratory Technical Excellence Specialist to lead ASTM method stewardship, SOP governance, and continuous improvement across the laboratory operations. You will drive documentation quality, applied research, and practical process improvements in fuels and lubricants labs.

Qualifications

• Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.
• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in engineering, Chemistry, or related technical discipline required.
• At least 8+ years of relevant experience in laboratory or technical roles.
• Experience with ASTM, documentation governance, and/or process improvement required.
• Strong understanding of laboratory operations, ASTM methods, and quality systems.
• Demonstrated experience in SOP/WI development and technical documentation governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and continuous improvement of SOPs and Work Instructions.
• Ensure alignment with ASTM standards, policies, and quality systems.
• Standardize documentation practices across teams for clarity and consistency.
• Identify gaps and improvements in current ASTM methods and workflows.
• Drive applied research to translate findings into practical lab improvements.
• Collaborate on digitalization, automation, and workflow enhancements.
• Provide technical guidance on methods, standards, and documentation practices.
