Job summary

UF Health Jacksonville is seeking a Lab Training and Education Specialist to design and maintain education for laboratory staff, MLS students, and allied health professionals. You will manage programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive quality initiatives across the department.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Medical Technology or related field, Florida licensure, and 5+ years in a clinical lab setting with training experience. This is a full-time, on-site role at UF Health Jacksonville.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's in Medical Technology or related field; option of Associate's with 10 years lab experience.
• Must hold Florida technologist licensure in microbiology, immunohematology, hematology, chemistry, serology.
• National certification exams must be passed upon hire (MT/AMT/MT/AAB/CLS/MT).

Responsibilities

• Presents training programs independently; evaluates effectiveness for new employees, students, and allied health professionals.
• Provides intra- and inter-departmental education on lab processes and procedures.
• Prepares, maintains, documents, and reports training and competencies to the departmental manager.
• Develops learning materials for MLS students (Safety, Epic/LIS, Lab Management).
• Prepares and assigns mandatory regulatory requirements (fire drills, safety training, fit testing, color vision).
• Oversees compliance requirements for all staff (Licenses, Certifications, Degrees, Work History).
• Tracks quality metrics against benchmarks (e.g., culture contamination rate, clerical errors, turnaround time).
• Supports regulatory efforts (CAP Inspection prep).
• Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory training.
