Job summary
The Director, Medical Laboratories at UVA Health provides strategic and operational leadership for laboratory services within a complex academic health system. You will collaborate with pathologists, faculty, IT partners, and community hospital leadership to deliver efficient, high-quality laboratory and pathology services.
With a focus on innovation, automation, workforce engagement, and continuous improvement, you will lead teams, manage resources, and advance technology to align laboratory
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with NAACLS-approved MLS/CLS/HTL or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible leadership in a complex health system.
- MLS/CLS or equivalent certification required; master's preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic and operational leadership for laboratory departments; collaborate with clinicians and IT partners.
- Oversee quality, safety, regulatory readiness, and compliance with federal/state/accrediting standards.
- Direct finances, capital planning, and service expansion business cases.
- Drive innovation, automation, interoperability, and data-driven decision making.
