Job summary

Valley Health's Winchester Medical Center is seeking a Laboratory Director to oversee Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Bank and Molecular departments, including phlebotomy support. The role requires strategic leadership, staffing optimization, safety compliance and strong collaboration with hospital and corporate teams.

The candidate will lead policy development, budgetary oversight, and performance improvement initiatives while guiding staff development and ensuring regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CLS/MT required; Master's preferred.
• Minimum 5 years as an administrative laboratory director in a medium-to-large hospital.
• ASCP or equivalent certification is required.
• Strong knowledge of CAP/TJC requirements and patient safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversee the clinical laboratory operations: Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Bank, and Molecular departments.
• Ensure staffing levels meet workload and implement best-practice processes.
• Lead safety, quality, and financial outcomes with cross-department collaboration.
• Develop, implement and review policies, procedures and protocols.
• Establish KPIs to measure technical, quality, and financial performance.
• Direct staff hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, evaluations and development.
