Schedule:
Tuesday - Saturday (40 hrs/wk)
12:00 PM - 8:30 PM (flexible)

Training Schedule:
Monday - Friday (8-10 weeks)
7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

*Hourly rate is an estimate only, including shift differential for nights, evenings, or weekend shifts. Overall hourly rates will vary based on schedule.

Primary Purpose:
The Lab Client Support Technician provides technical and preanalytic support services for a designated division of technical operations and clients. Contact clients regarding specimen information such as integrity, volume, test clarification, and missing specimens. Acts as a supportive link between customers and all other areas of the company.

Essential Functions:

  • Understand proper collection, handling, and transportation of specimens.
  • Process specimens accurately according to departmental procedures, including triaging, routing, and storing.
  • Evaluate specimens for acceptability and initiate problem resolution for non-conforming specimens.
  • Process requests for add-on testing.
  • Develop proficiency with laboratory information systems such as ANSR, ESP, IMS, Millennium, MasterControl, LMS, CRM, and eExcept.
  • Handle customer and laboratory communications courteously and promptly, providing verified test results from the LIS as needed.
  • Provide education, guidance, and troubleshooting to customers regarding testing resources and applications.
  • Maintain competency with pre-analytic equipment, performing maintenance as needed.
  • Keep the work area clean and document cleaning and maintenance activities.
  • Serve as a liaison between technical sections and customers.
  • Build and maintain positive customer relationships, ensuring professional and empathetic communication.
  • Document all customer interactions, resolutions, issues, and follow-ups appropriately.

Physical and Other Requirements:

  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward at the waist.
  • Reaching: Extending hands and arms in any direction.
  • Mobility: Occasionally moving between work sites and within the office.
  • Communication: Frequent interaction with others.
  • PPE: Use of personal protective equipment in a biohazard laboratory environment per CDC and OSHA regulations.
  • Compliance: Adherence to ARUP Policies and Procedures.
  • Sedentary Work: Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Fine Motor Control: Tasks involving fingers, such as typing and handling small objects.
  • Vision: Adequate visual acuity for detailed observations and distance judgment.

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent or higher.

Preferred

Associate's Degree or higher in Biology or a related field.

Experience
Required

Completion and demonstration of department-specific training and competency within 6 months.

Preferred

Experience in a medical laboratory setting, coursework in medical terminology, biology, communications, or related sciences, call center experience, typing speed of 35 WPM, 10-key skills, familiarity with LIS, and HIPAA knowledge.
