Strong communication and computer skills are essential to coordinate with nursing units, physicians, and satellite labs. The position involves direct phlebotomy support for STAT/now collections and ensures timely reporting of results.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong reading/comprehension skills and the ability to understand medical terminology.
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
• Proficient keyboarding and computer skills for data entry.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to varying workloads and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Process and order patient/physician orders according to procedure manual.
• Answer telephones in a friendly and caring manner.
• Transfer calls to appropriate associates or departments.
• Communicate with satellite labs and drawing stations as needed.
• Train and guide new laboratory associates.
• Direct phlebotomy team for STAT/now collections.
• Prepare, sort and deliver patient reports to physician offices.
• Faxes reports to physicians’ offices and communicates test statuses.
