Job summary

PCH Princeton Community Hospital invites applications for a Laboratory Assistant to support specimen processing, data entry, and basic clerical tasks in our Clinical Labs. The role contributes to patient care by collecting, processing, storing and transporting specimens as needed.

The position requires a High School Diploma or Equivalent and a WV PoC license; Phlebotomy CPT certification is preferred. Six months’ related experience is desirable, with shifts and travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • West Virginia PoC License required/adapted by department.
  • Phlebotomy CPT Certification preferred.
  • Six months of Phlebotomy, Lab Assistant or Cytopreparatory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare specimens to perform basic diagnostic procedures.
  • Operate laboratory equipment/instrumentation for basic testing and specimen processing.
  • Prepare reagents and solutions for testing.
  • Perform quality control procedures under supervision.
  • Perform routine maintenance and quality control of equipment.
  • Report test results with limited errors and timely.
  • Utilize time and resources to provide optimal patient care.
  • Complete workload within turnaround times.
  • Communicate unusual supply usage or clinical issues to Supervisor/Manager.
  • Communicate unusual medical/technical problems or patient results.
  • Perform clerical duties to support laboratory operations.
