Job summary

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of pathology/laboratory medicine and billing.
  • Ability to troubleshoot billing issues.
  • Quality improvement and problem resolution skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate billing activities and resolve daily errors promptly.
  • Educate laboratory staff to reduce billing errors.
  • Develop billing procedures for manual entry and error resolution.
  • Manage Epic work queues for the laboratory.
  • Conduct periodic audits to ensure proper charges.
  • Plan staffing for sick/vacation/LOA.
  • Oversee specimen procurement, preparation, and analysis.
  • Stay current on specialty by attending seminars and reading journals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Laboratory Billing Supervisor coordinates and completes laboratory related billing including conducting audits, correcting errors, training laboratory staff on billing procedures and identifying system wide issues.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinate billing related activities required by the laboratory including the resolution of daily errors in a timely manner.
  • Provide education to the laboratory staff to reduce billing errors.
  • Develop billing procedures related to manual entry, error identification, and resolution.
  • Manage laboratory related Epic work queues in a timely manner.
  • Perform periodic audits of the billing process in the laboratory to determine if charges are being created appropriately.
  • Create schedules and evaluate staffing needs for sick, vacation and LOA’s.
  • Oversee the procurement, preparation, and analysis of patient specimens according to established procedures.
  • Maintain current knowledge of specialty by attending seminars, in-services and reading journals.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's Degree Preferred; Field of study: biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 Years of job-related experience required.
  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other nationally recognized laboratory certification required.
  • Knowledge of pathology/laboratory medicine and billing
  • Ability to troubleshoot billing issues
  • Skilled in quality improvement and problem resolution
