The Medical Lab Technologist II performs routine and special tests according to written protocols to determine test results that will assist in diagnosing and treating patients.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates competency, individually and as part of the multidisciplinary team, in performing clinical care and assessment of all patient populations
  • Collects, accepts, and prepares clinical specimens for analysis and storage.
  • Performs all testing and related calculations.
  • Evaluates and reports results.
  • Performs established procedures for quality testing.
  • Exhibits professional interpersonal skills.
  • Provides instructions to MT students and other medical personnel.
  • Participates in activities/in-services to maintain professional and departmental requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree in a biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution; and Completion of a twelve month clinical laboratory training program approved by the U. S.
  • Department of Education and/or accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or equivalent; and Completion of a nationally recognized certification examination for clinical laboratory scientists, such as that offered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent. Proficiency in the English language required.
