Responsibilities

• Process microbiology samples of all specimen types onto appropriate media.
• Prepare and sterilize laboratory equipment and supplies.
• Collect, process, and label patient samples following established protocols.
• Perform routine laboratory procedures, including plating, streaking, and inoculation.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of all laboratory activities.
• Assist with the preparation of reagents and media.
• Clean and maintain laboratory work areas and equipment.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations.
• Assist Clinical Lab Scientists and Medical Lab Technicians as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year of laboratory clerical and/or phlebotomy experience in an acute care facility required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory setting preferred.
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment, including microscopes, incubators, and autoclaves.
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and regulations.
• Phlebotomy training suitable for all ages from newborns to geriatrics.
• California Phlebotomy Technician License (CT Phlebotomy) required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification (AHA BLS) required.
• Fire Safety Card (CT Fire Card) required within 90 days of hire.

Pay Range

$23.00 - $25.97 per hour
