Job summary

Jupiter Medical Center is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to perform data entry and workflow monitoring for pending phlebotomy draws. You will help maintain logs, organize workflow, and support the laboratory staff with specimen procurement and processing.

The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to learn multiple data entry systems. You will interact with clinical staff, maintain quality assurance records, and contribute to timely patient care.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Preferred national certification (ASPT, ASCP).
• Able to communicate professionally with coworkers, supervisors, and physicians.
• Strong computer data entry skills; able to use multiple IS data entry systems.
• Dexterity for procedures and use of lab equipment.
• Able to learn specimen requirements for over 2000 tests.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Performs computer data entry and workflow monitoring of pending phlebotomy draws.
• Maintains pending log lists and organizes workflow to improve efficiency.
• Answers phones, faxes reports, maintains phlebotomy inventory.
• Maintains a clean environment, including lab equipment and work benches.
• Performs specimen procurement, specimen processing, lab testing, send outs, and QA records maintenance.
• Completes competency training in a timely manner and expedites specimens by priority.
• Acts as front-line for laboratory customer service, resolving specimen issues with clinical staff.
