Job summary

HCA Florida Palms West Hospital is seeking a Lab Assistant / Phlebotomist to support specimen collection, processing, and registration under supervision. The role emphasizes venipuncture proficiency across pediatric to geriatric patients and adherence to established procedures for specimen handling and patient identification.

The position requires 2+ years in a clinical laboratory setting or related registration/clerical experience; Phlebotomy certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in registration, clerical duties, and sending out of specimen processing.
• Phlebotomy or related certification preferred.
• Weekend availability or rotation required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficiency in specimen collection by venipuncture and finger sticks across age groups.
• Documents specimen collection and testing accurately in the LIS and patient records.
• Follows procedures for patient identification, specimen labeling, and test orders.
• Maintains cleanliness and safety protocols; assists with routine clerical tasks and specimen processing.
