Job Summary

Performs a variety of routine tasks in the laboratory, facilitates and documents the flow of patient specimens, completes specimen processing, test order entry, and performs venipuncture and arterial puncture as required. This position is represented by RCHEA.

Education and Qualifications

• Experience in venipuncture, capillary collections, and arterial blood draws required.
• Prior laboratory experience preferred.
• California State Phlebotomy Certificate (CPT I for phlebotomy and CPT II for arterial puncture).
• Ability to answer phones professionally, organize, and maintain good follow-up.
• Assist co-workers when needed.
• Make decisions and take appropriate action in high-pressure emergency situations.
• Good communication and diplomatic skills to relate well with people.
• Ability to understand both oral and written instructions in English.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

• Potential exposure to blood and body fluids; use protective measures accordingly.
